Every Hunting Expert Was Once a Beginner

By Aaron Olsen

It’s the last day of deer season and the overwhelming feeling of disappointment washes over you. All of the optimism and hope that was present in early October vanishes just like your opportunity to harvest that trophy buck. You swear to yourself that you will work harder in the offseason to become a better hunter, to be more prepared, to scout harder. Winter turns into spring and spring turns to summer. Before you know it, October 1st rolls around and you have a repeat of the previous season. Sure, you ran some trail cameras. You probably even hung a few new stands but ultimately, the sinking feeling returns and you finish the season with your head down because the result did not change. Sound familiar?

Good…because you can relate to how myself and a lot of hunters feel year after year.

BUT…Not anymore. I have created this blog to force myself to continue developing my hunting arsenal. The best way to learn is by teaching. To bring REAL value to YOU the reader, I must constantly be in a mode of learning, as well as be able to articulate the content well enough to teach it and ultimately APPLY it. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day, so we just have to focus on laying one more brick every day. It’s all about taking THE NEXT STEP, hence the name of the blog. It doesn’t matter what skill level you are at. Whether you have hunted for 3 months or 30 years, I want to advance together. Even a novice can someday become a hunting expert.

This marks THE FIRST STEP and I hope you join me on this journey!
